A contemporary eco-home in the countryside surrounding Babcary, blurring the residential and agricultural typologies. Highlands seeks to utilise existing landscaping features and the efficient use of the buildings form in order to mitigate the impact of the scheme upon the immedate and wider context.

The builing consists of a strong rectilinear base and a striking triangular pediment with a steeply sloping roof facilitating an occupiable roof space.

The steep raking roof line takes note of the many agricultural buildings within the surrounding context. This building typology is designed with absolute efficiency in mind; Highlands sought to adopt similar domestic efficiency in order to create a building sensitive to its surroundings.

The house is designed to Passivhaus principles, with efficiency of form and air tightness detailing paramount to the proposals. The project achieved practical completion in spring 2024.
